the shipping conspiracy

I recently got the POSB Go! Card which acts as both an ATM card and debit card. I got it so that I could link it to paypal for online purchases. After a bit of confusion over the activation, I finally got it linked and was ready to spend away the measly amount of cash I had. So, just 5 minutes ago, I threw away 61.50 USD on crap that I really don’t need. :) Well, crap that I don’t need, but I sure as hell do want! Pretty and cute things from janetstore.com. Now, I’ve done a lot of e-shopping in my day, and janetstore is one of the best online stores for kawaii letter sets, memo pads, sticker sacks, etc. She has a billion items stocked in her shop, that I took 3 hours browsing her store and yet, am sure that I have not seen every item. On a side note, I wish I got paid for advertorials. ^^v kekek.
I’m also waiting on a package from lolita-kisama.com which cost me 63.84 USD. They are a visual kei shop selling mostly cosplay items, and other randoms. Their collection is a little bit small though. I bought a knit hat, a t-shirt, a pair of gloves and a jrock badge. Well, I only wanted to hat and the t-shirt, but I had to buy the gloves and badge just to boost my amount spent, so that I could get the free gift which is another knit hat. :) I probably won’t use it so I might give it away. ;o
Now that I think about it, I could probably get the stuff I buy online for a lot cheaper, if I bothered to go out, walk (and lose some calories too) around browsing shops and finding the best bargains. I pay 10 – 20 USD alone on shipping, which could get me 5-10 more memopads or a whole t-shirt (as compared to cut-up pieces of a shirt). I am most definitely, a squanderbird. Help me~~ :(
It’s also a lot easier to overspend online because clicking and having a cartload of items is extremely exciting. The more the merrier! And there’s this thing called, the shipping conspiracy. My coinage! :D It’s when the postal services charges per block of weight. Like, for the first 0.5 kg they charge 2 dollars (it’s a lot more than 2 dollars, for international shipping, this is just so I don’t have to do heavy math! :D), and for subsequent 0.5kgs they charge a dollar. So for something that weighs 2kgs, it’s 2 + 1 +1 +1 = 5 dollars total. So I was shopping and shopping, and when I was ready to check out, my shipping fee was like 14 dollars, at like 1.51 kgs. Omfg! I jumped onto the next 0.5kgs block by just 0.01kg! Either I take out an item that I’m absolutely in love with, or I buy another 0.4-ish kgs worth of items (like 20ish dollars) to make full use of the extra dollar I spent on shipping. So I click on some more items (it’s such a breeze), and bam! The weight went to 2.01kgs. @$*!)(!#!
